About CRCAA

Community Ready Corps Allies and Accomplices (CRCAA)

Community Ready Corps Allies and Accomplices (CRCAA) was created by Community Ready Corps (CRC), a Black self-determination organization that works to build capacity in 9 specific areas, with the mandate for white people to organize other white people to practice the 5 Methods to Divest of White Power and Weaponize White Privilege. This means that CRCAA has been tasked to facilitate spaces that are for white people to organize other white people.

What are the 5 Methods?

Community Ready Corps devised the 5 Methods as a set of protocols to structure their political relationship with white people in a way that does not compromise their commitment to Black self-determination. CRC and many of their allies consent to political engagement with white people only through these protocols.

We often hear white people say, “I oppose racism, but I don’t know what I can do!” – the 5 Methods are what you can do. You can apply these principles wherever you find yourself.

The idea that even people committed to anti-racism perpetuate white supremacy is part of what CRC calls the persistent re-establishment of white supremacy, and they’ve given us the 5 Methods so we can be effective and accountable in our solidarity work.

What is Black self-determination?

CRC describes Black self-determination as the political force that can ultimately end the centuries-long dominant system of white supremacy.

For CRC, Black self-determination means that the Black community has the right to decide what’s best for them without outside interference or imposition, and the ability to bring about what they need.

By definition, organizing for Black self-determination is not dependent upon white people. Strategically, however, CRC has made the assessment that some engagement with the white community is necessary to achieve this objective.
